I was completely clueless as to what was going to happen until he started heaving. I made it off the lanai and onto the grass in time and he vomited all over my feet before passing out as I lowered him to the grass. What was going on? Bagus and the vet seemed unperturbed. The vet asked for some cloth and Bagus disappeared into our house and came back out with the (filthy) foot mat we keep for cleaning up when going between the grassy area and the tile. He spread it in front of the vet. As I wracked my brain, I remembered Bagus saying a few months back that we should neuter the puppies and I said they were too young and he said "later," and I said "OK." But that couldn't be happening since we hadn't gone to the vet clinic...unless it was. "Are you going to neuter the dogs?" I asked. "Yes." "Now?" "Yes." Oh crap.
"Put him here," Bagus said, waving at the foot mat. "For surgery?" (I am really slow sometimes) "Here?" Of course that was what was going on. "Wait! Clean cloth!" I hollered and rushed into the house with 'Ilio in search of a towel. On the way I stepped over Aliwa, passed out in the little hallway, his nose resting in a pile of puke. I grabbed a towel and brought it to the lanai and we placed 'Ilio on it. I went back inside to move Aliwa away from the puke, "Bring him too!" then came back out to watch the procedure. It was super-cowboy-style. The vet sliced in, squeezed out a testicle, tied it off with surgical thread and snip-snip, the testes was resting on the lanai and he was searching for the second one. "I feel a little weak," said Bagus.
