Just getting out of the U.S. was a challenge. Both Tim's father and my mother had very serious health complications close to our departure. We flew Tim to Victoria just two weeks before departing (he returned with a week to finish up everything) and my mom was released from the hospital and we had to find a place for her to be cared for the week before leaving. Miraculously, we pulled it all off, but left several things undone before leaving. Glen arrived with two nights and one day to learn the ropes at the ranch (thank goodness for Telegram for answering all the unanswered questions). We planned an extra-early trip to the airport so that we could drop bags then head to breakfast at Ken's before the flight (have to have one last meal at Ken's!). We were remarkably on-time for this activity, which was good because there was something wrong with the way our tickets were booked and Hawaiian couldn't get our bags checked all the way from Hilo to Jakarta. It took three agents 45 minutes to figure it out (and they warned us that the return is going to be worse) but they finally did it and we said goodbye to the bags and went to wait for Glen on the curb. We'd be cutting it tight but there was still time for mahi and eggs. Except that Glen didn't show up. Turns out he'd been waiting with the headlights on and the battery had died. We hiked across the airport and managed to push start the Honda on a flat road with nothing worse to show than greasy hands. But that was it for breakfast at Ken's. We said good-bye to Glen and started on our journey: 2 airlines, 3 flights, 3 countries, 23 hours, about 9,000 miles

Glad you both made it safely. I hope your bags made it to you.

Yes! All our bags made it. One didn't come to the baggage claim and we had to go looking for it, but that delay meant that we got to Customs after the rush and we were just so happy to have them all
