An internet search turned up information that one had been scheduled for Saturday but that people had decided to make it a 2 day strike instead. 25,000-30,000 protesters are supposed to hit the streets of Bangalore today, more tomorrow.

I suppose that even in the US water rights are contentious, but here it seems even more so. Given the drought, Karnataka refused to release water to Tamil Nadu. On Sept 19th they were ordered to at the federal-level. Karnataka tried to argue against it, but on the day we left for BRT they relented and started the water release. The most-efficient road to BRT goes through Mandya but our drive was uneventful, we simply crossed the bridge over the Cauvery and kept on our merry way.
