Our school from Kumbha, Mesha and Dhanas went to Kerala on a huge bus. It took the whole day just to get to Wyanad, Kerala. On the bus ride we saw wild elephants! They were on the side of the road in Bandipur forest. There were 3. One Mama, one Daddy, and one baby. We stopped the bus and everybody took pictures except for me (because my camera was almost out of battery). That picture that is burnt of a crack is the last picture I took. We stopped near a school and went into small jeeps up a hill to see animals and we went to a temple. On that ride I saw 2 more elephants.
After we got off the bus we went up to a room and unpacked. After that we went to have dinner. Dinner was rice and sambar but I didn't have any sambar or chutney. I showed all my friends how to play tag and we played tag but instead of tag we called it black lizard. Because mostly Indians were playing and only one American. I was the white lizard.
On the second day we went to Edakkal Caves. At Edakkal Caves we had to climb up a huge mountain. After we climbed the whole mountain we got into the cave. It took a little while to get into the main cave. There were carvings on the walls of the cave. that picture that I have is of a crack straight through the cave that if you walked into it you would fall straight down (unless you had a hover machine and you'd go vhhooomp).
At Pookot Lake we walked halfway around the lake and we went back all the way around and got to play on a jungle gym castle.
The next day we went to Kuruva Dveep and Boys Town. At Kuruva Dveep we went on a boat (a raft) across the water to an island. And I think that river was Kuruva Dveep and the island we went to was Boys' Town (but there was lots of girls on it). The boat ride wasn't very fun and Boys Town wasn't very fun unless you had extra clothes with you cuz we got to swim in the water. I did not have extra clothes. I just walked around in the water with my friends and found fish or frog eggs. Boys Town was a walk around place that was all made out of bamboo (except the island was made out of dirt). It was mostly bamboo trees. There were no people living there. There were no houses or buildings that we could see on the walk. After we went inside Boys Town and out of Boys Town, when we were going back to the bus, everybody went with the teachers to get stuff to buy. I only bought vanilla and chocolate homemade chocolates. They were delicious. I almost ate somebody else's package. I asked them if I could have one and I wanted to take two but I didn't.
The next day I went trekking around Chethalayam Falls and to Asha's Farm at Chirukattoor. We went to Asha's farm first and then the falls. Asha is a teacher in Poorna. She wasn't there but her brother was. We had dinner at the farm. It was rice and sambar, chutney and tapioca. Not the tapioca that you're thinking about: the tapioca tasted like potatoes, was white like sweet tapioca but it wasn't sweet and it grew off a tree. And before we ate dinner we had a look around Asha's farm. At the farm he had lots of rice, tapioca, ginger, yam, rubber and that's all. And he had a tamarind tree. He had a very, very good tamarind tree. All the tamarinds weren't really ripe but all the kids were allowed to have them. I got a really big tamarind. We played hide-and-seek and tag and a game called landings. To play landings, people choose where their land is, like Russia or Brazil. After you choose all your countries you write the first letter of your country on your country (like a B for Brasil and an R for Russia). After you choose all that then somebody starts with a stick. They throw it to somebody's land and say the name of their land. And once that person gets the stick and the person who threw the stick runs and everybody else runs but when the person gets the stick they all have to stop. When he says stop, he throws the stick at somebody. If it hits he takes away some of their land. Once somebody takes away everybody's land then they win the game.
After Asha's farm we went to Wolfgang Botanical Garden the next day. At the botanical garden we first went to carnivorous plants. There was Venus Flytraps, Pitcher Plants, Horn Pitcher, and I don't know the rest's names. I felt like the plants were going to come alive and grow huge and eat all the children! After the carnivorous plants we went to plants that grow on trees (epiphytes). They had the leaf was inside the green one and then they had a brown encasing to catch the leaves and make themselves a compost pile. They ate all the nutrients from the compost that they make.
After that, we left by 1pm and at some time we went to Mysore and had lunch. I had chicken noodles for lunch. They were yummy! I put catsup on them. On the bus we didn't see anything interesting except for humans (which aren't interesting). On the bus ride home we stopped at a little store to spend the rest of our money. I bought a pretty orange, red, and pink bangle for my mom, Hanuman's mace for my dad for his motorcycle keychain, and for me I bought a flute-like thing that makes the sound "oooh-weee, oooh-weee, oooh-wee" when you pull a iron rod away from you and push it towards you. We reached Bangalore at 9pm -- I was very tired. My Mom and Dad picked me up in a taxi.
