BUUUUGS! are awesome! We went to a rainforest hotel thing and there I found lots of bugs including frogs and spiders and caterpillars and rolly-pollies. My cousin found a spider. The spider was orange (the second picture). The rolly-polly was blue and black and orange and about the size of my pointer finger plus half of my pointer finger (4th picture). I caught a damselfly at the stream going to breakfast. It was black on the back part of the wing; front part of the wing was orange. There was a bright green dragonfly. I tried to catch it but it was too fast -- it flew away. Other damselflies I could catch were blue ones and green ones. I saw two caterpillars. One was green with white stripes it was about the same size as the rolly-polly. The second one was about half my pinky finger. The second one also has bristles and that means it's poisonous or it makes you itch if you touch it. I did not touch it cuz I knew that if you touched one like that you would itch or it might be poisonous. The first green caterpillar I petted it's forehead and back. It felt like squashing jelly. I LOVE BUGS!!! (Mom typing)
School was fun on Saturday. We went on a field trip to two temples. Both Hindu temples. Two kids got their lunch bags stolen by monkeys. One kid's lunch bag we got back, the other one -- poof! Gone! And another monkey at the same temple still, a girl bought cookies (she brought money to school and bought cookies -- she gave one to me). And then, after that, a package that she was holding in her hand a monkey jumped out of a tree, took the package, growled at her and then ran away! (Mom typing) Yesterday me and my family went to a temple, actually 3 temples. At the temples we bought a 2-string instrument. I can't play it very well. It's a sliced in half coconut shell with tin-foil over the top, a wooden base, wooden turners, a bent stick with a line on it for the strummer. We went to a Jain temple. There they had a humongous naked Jain Prophet. After we saw the Prophet we went and looked at other prophets. We went up a mountain to get to a mountain to get to the Jain temple. Up and down there were over 1,000 steps. There were 650 steps. There were 500 steps on the way up to the first temple. The second temple had 150 steps -- that's where the giant naked Jain prophet is. There was a Nandi at the second temple. Nandi is a bull the god Shiva rides on. The whole temple was made out of rock. There was millions of tigers and elephants carved into the rock. There was carving of a demon pulling the guts out of a person. There was a sculpture of a person surrounded by snakes and guys getting stepped on by elephants. At the third temple we got the instrument. And the third temple was basically the same thing as the second temple. (Mom typing)
Last Saturday we went to BRT and MM Hills. We saw so many deer and pigs and monkeys at BRT. BRT is way different from Bangalore. It's not city at all, it's just plants and animals. We stayed in a cabin in the woods from the company that my mom's working with in India. Lots of monkeys came in the evening. When they all came in there was some baby monkeys and all the baby monkeys went up on a tree and jumped on the roof. I saw one baby monkey swinging across a telephone wire onto the building. A monkey went up an avocado tree and the dogs that were there they went running after it and it kept squeezing avocados to see if they were ripe or not ripe. When they were not ripe the monkey kept throwing them down at the dog. One almost hit the dog. Monkeys are really smart animals. The power went out about four times. It was super-annoying -- I didn't really like it, but at least I got to write in my journal by candlelight. On the way back we went to a restaurant. Once we got our food a guy came in stumbling. When he sat down he started barfing a million times. I thought it was pretty funny. The restaurant was outside so he didn't really barf inside something. Here is what I wrote in my journal: 29/9: I saw a sikad (Mom's note: cycad). It looks like a sikad ok (Mom's note: he drew a picture of it). And I saw 4 monkeys. I junpt on the roof. 2 monkeys got in a fight. I am writing in candle lite! 30/9: We went to BRT. A kid liked me he showed us lots of things. He made my mom go in the exit of the temple. After we went to MM Hills. We saw a lot of monkies. 1/10: Today we went to a village. We saw lots of adobe houses. And we saw a lantana factory. We went to a temple. It is real gold. 2/10: Today we went back to Bangalore. On the ride home we saw a person barfing. After we went to a waterfall. My dad went swimming in underwear. yesterday my dad bought a motorcycle and me and Kalani got to ride it

Last Saturday we went to see a temple. There wear lots of carved statues into the wall and all the people had their noses smashed off because the Muslims came and attacked. The Hindus built the temple. The temple had three places to pray to three different gods. The temple was built in the 1200s. There was Vishnu and Krishna but The third statue was put in in modern times and the third statue was also Vishnu. We took a taxi to a parking place and then we walked the rest of the way in. We went on a train to Mysore. Our train ride went in the middle of the night so it was very dark and way too boring. They didn't give us food on the train. When we got off the train we had to run over train tracks and then climb up a wall and then go over to the road and get an autorickshaw. Mysore didn't have a lot of traffic like Bangalore. Bangalore has a car coming like every second and Mysore has a car coming every 50 seconds. There was a really boring palace that you had to follow a path and you couldn't just look around. It was pretty but boring. The first horse-drawn cart was in Mysore where the first pony had a fluffy thing on its head. The second one had a bare head. Instead of taxis there was horse-drawn carts. On the way back to Bangalore I got to see out the window because it was day time. It wasn't very dark. When we got back to Bangalore I got to buy a package of Sweet Hearts that are bread hearts with sugar and honey on them. (mom typing)
Yesterday we went to the zoo. I had lots of fun. We saw lots of animals. We went on four buses just to go to one zoo. We went on a safari ride and we went into a place with lots of animals in cages. When we got out of the place with lots of animals in cages it was pouring rain. When we went on the safari ride all the windows on the bus had iron bars so all the tigers couldn't get us. We went through an herbivore and a carnivore. The herbivore place had a crocodile in it which is weird. We saw a white tiger who looked like Namaste a little bit and we saw orange tigers and in the herbivore section we saw deer and it looked like pigs but I'm not sure. And we saw sloth bears and they were really cute and all fluffy. |
