We flew from Bangalore to Delhi to Bagdogra and drove from Bagdogra to Darjeeling. When we got to Darjeeling it was late afternoon. Darjeeling has not very many cars and lots of shops. There is one road that barely any cars come on.
The next day we went to the zoo. The zoo was really big. We walked from our hotel to the zoo. The best part was the bird that looked like Kevin in Up. It was the most colorful. I wanted to see a red panda so bad so we had to go to the zoo to see it.
Two days later we went to Sikkim. Our hotel was really nice. They had a TV one story up. Two days later we started to hike up to the first campsite. We got dzo. They are a mix of a cow and a yak. They carried our stuff to the campsite. We went from Yuksom to the campsite. We gained 500m elevation. The guide said it would be 8km but the GPS said 12.6km! The dinner was chicken, beans, rice, soup, and lentils and it was delicious.
The second campsite was very muddy. We went to a lake and a monastery. The monastery was run-down. A little after we got there a big mist started to blow in. I got a piece of wood and started to whittle a Gurkha knife. the Gurkha knife is called a kukuri. After I was done whittling we had dinner. My favorite part of the dinner was little crispies. They are little yellow strips that are like shrimp chips.
The next day we went to the third campsite, Dzongri. It's at 3,950m elevation. Me and Kalani made a game. It's called dice-hitter. You need a bamboo stick and a wood die. We walked 8.6km. We walked 3 hours and 11 minutes. We rested 2 hrs and 35 minutes. We gained 1,000m. The first part was hard and the second part was easy. Me and Kalani and the staff played cricket all day long on the next day. It was really fun.
On the next day we hiked for 4 hours and 45 minutes. The elevation is 3,926m. We went down 474m and up 451m. We hiked 8.25km. At the campsite we played football with the staff for most of the day.
The next day we had a very short hike that we went up to the last campsite, Lamune. The last night is snowed so much. We played cricket in the snow. It was so fun. We got up at 3am the next day and hiked to a viewpoint. I said I was going to die. The viewpoint was at 4,600m. I did not like it so much. It was so cold I felt like I was going to get frostbite on my toes. My dad came back the same day and then we started to go back down to civilization. it took two days to get back
